Stroke & Turn Judges
Stroke & Turn Judges help ensure races are fair by checking that swimmers:
- Use the correct stroke
- Perform legal turns
- Touch the wall correctly at turns and finishes
If a rule is missed, a swimmer may receive a disqualification (DQ) for that race. Coaches will explain any DQ to the swimmer so they can learn and improve.
For 6 & Under swimmers, DQs are typically limited to situations where the swimmer is not attempting the correct stroke or receives coach assistance during the race.
